Excited dancer (2027)
The work explores how anticipation, charm, and rhythmic eagerness can be conjured, from meticulous synchronized dancing to wild gallops. Set to an adventurous soundtrack full of anticipation and delight, by Dorothea Økland, the choreography emerges as a charmingly unpredictable choreographic puzzle.
Six dancers join forces for the joint project, driven by enthusiasm, eagerness and total devotion for the matter at hand: holding the space for an hour, together. The work unfolds in multiplicities, as performers traverse through the space on individual and shared journeys.
The audience sit along the circumference of the space, gaining their own perspecetive and insight into the universe the unravels in front of htem. From their front row seat, they witness games of coordination and listening, acts of magic, and fleeting moments of shared wonder.
Excited Dancer is about sparking something — both in performers and audience — through a playful and unpretentious approach to the inherent joy and vitality of dance.
